How Hosts Can Unmute Participants

Hosts have two main ways to unmute participants.

Participants May Be Asked by the Host to Request Again

As a host, you can ask the participant to tap the Request button again. This button is situated on the left of X’s Space interface, where participants are found. The host approves requests from participants and lets them speak when they allow. A muted participant can become unmuted in a Space by tapping that Request button once more.

Make the Participant a Speaker

As a host, you can make some of those attending the event your speakers. Initially, you need to click on their profile icon and then select Add as speaker. The participant will then be prompted to confirm or reject this speaker status. Once accepted, they will be unmuted by default. If they miss the pop-up, they can tap the Request button again and see the option to unmute themselves by tapping the Mic is off button.

How Hosts Can Unmute Everyone

  1. If you’re a host on X Spaces, you have the option to mute all participants at once and unmute them afterward. Click on Mute everyone from the X Spaces menu which takes effect instantaneously for all participants.
  2. You’ll see Everyone is now muted.
  3. Tap on it when it says Unmute everyone, replacing Mute everyone in the menu.
  4. A notification pops up saying, Everyone is now unmuted.

However, this doesn’t mean that as the host you’re going to unmute them automatically. Participants must still click the mic is off button for their mics to work after the host hits unmute everyone. This allows a participant to determine when their microphone is live or not.
