How to Take Screenshot on Samsung Phone Without Power or Volume Button

Is your Samsung phone’s volume or power (side) button broken? Or do you find the traditional way of taking screenshots by simultaneously pressing the volume and power key? Thankfully, there are multiple other ways to capture screenshots on a Samsung phone. Let’s learn how to take screenshots on Samsung Galaxy phones without using the power (side) or volume buttons.

1. Using Quick Settings

One of the easiest ways to take screenshots on a Samsung Galaxy phone without using any button – power or volume is from the Quick Settings panel. Swipe down twice from the top of your phone to bring up the Quick Settings panel. Tap the Take Screenshot tile to capture a screenshot.

In case you don’t find the Take Screenshot tile or you want to move it to the start of the Quick Settings panel for faster access, you can easily do that too, as shown below:

1. Open Quick Settings on your phone.
2. On One UI 6+, tap on the Pencil (Edit) icon to edit the panel, followed by Top or Full,  based on which panel you want to edit. On older One UI versions, tap on the three-dot icon and select Edit from the menu.
   
3. Move the Take Screenshot button from the Available buttons section to the top by dragging it. Alternatively, if you want to change the tile’s position, drag and and move it to the desired position.
4. Press Done after you have made the desired changes.

2. Using Palm Swipe to Capture Gesture

If you prefer using gestures, Samsung provides a native way to capture screenshots using a gesture. This comes in handy if you want to take screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy phone with faulty side/volume keys.

1. On your Samsung Galaxy phone, go to Settings.
2. Tap on Advanced features followed by Motions and gestures.
3. Enable the toggle next to the Palm swipe to capture.
   
4. With the setting enabled, swipe on the display with the side of your palm from left to right or vice versa. That is, place the edge of your right hand (little finger on the phone side) on either the left or side of your phone and then just slide it to the other side.

That’s it. Your Samsung phone will capture a screenshot and the screen will flash when that happens.

3. Using Bixby or Google Assistant

If you enjoy using voice assistants like Bixby or Google Assistant on your Samsung Galaxy phone, you can use them to take a screenshot as well. First, activate your preferred assistant and then use the command “Take a screenshot” to capture a screenshot of the active screen.

If you prefer using Google Assistant over Samsung’s voice assistant, you can disable Bixby on your Samsung phone for good.

4. Using Tasks in Edge Panel

The Edge Panel in Samsung Galaxy phones is like a secret treasure box where you can find all kinds of useful things, even the ability to take screenshots. Basically, you need to enable the Tasks panel in the Edge Panel. It offers a quick shortcut to capture your Galaxy phone’s screen by just pressing an on-screen button without using the physical side key (power) or volume buttons.

1. Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
2. Go to Display and tap on Edge panels.
3. Turn it on the screen that shows up. Then, tap on Panels.
   
4. Select the selection circle above the Tasks panel to enable it, and tap on the Edit button under the Tasks panel.
5. Make sure Take Screenshot shows up on the right side. If not, add it to the Tasks panel by tapping on it from the left panel.
6. Once added, go to the screen whose screenshot you want to take and swipe left on the Edge handle. Swipe again until you see the Tasks panel.
7. Tap on the Take Screenshot button in the panel.

5. Using the Back Tap Gesture

Another cool way to capture the screen on your Samsung Galaxy phone is by tapping on its back side using the Back Tap action. This feature is not natively available on Samsung Galaxy phones; you must use Samsung’s Good Lock app to enable this.

1. Install the Good Lock app on your Samsung Galaxy phone. This app is available only on the Galaxy Store and not on the Play Store.
2. Open the Good Lock app and go to the Life Up tab at the bottom.
3. Press the Download icon next to the RegiStar module to install it.
4. Open the RegiStar module and tap on Back-Tap action.
   
5. Enable the Back-Tap action on the screen that shows up.
6. Now, you can assign the screenshot capture action to either the Double Tap or Tripe tap gesture. Tap on the preferred option and select Take and Share screenshot.
   
7. Now whenever you want to take a screenshot, simply tap twice (or thrice based on the selected option) in the center at the back of your phone.

You can customize the screenshot action by tapping the Settings icon next to the Take and Share screenshot option to select whether you want to capture a basic screenshot or show a menu as well after capturing the screen.

6. Using the Accessibility Menu

If you take screenshots frequently, you can add a floating button on your Samsung phone for taking screenshots. This is possible using the Accessibility button.

Follow these steps to enable the floating Assistant button to take screenshots:

1. Open Settings on your phone.
2. Go to Accessibility followed by Interaction and dexterity.
3. Enable the toggle next to the Assistant menu and confirm on the pop-up that shows up by tapping on Allow.
4. A floating button will show up on your screen. Now you need to make sure that the screenshot option is added to it.
5. Tap on the Assistant menu text and go to Select Assistant menu items.
   
6. Make sure the Screenshot option appears in the top panel. If it’s not there, tap on the + icon on the Screenshot button in the bottom panel to add it to the Assistant menu.
   
7. To take a screenshot, tap on the floating Assistant menu icon and select Screenshots from the menu.

You can long press and drag the icons in the Assistant menu to rearrange them as per your preference.
