Everyone agrees that adblockers can often be life-savers. Without them, you may have to deal with an enormous quantity of ads every time you want to check out something on the web. However, there will be times when you have to disable the adblocker.

How to Disable Your AdBlocker Temporarily or For a Specific Site

Have you ever tried to open a page only to receive a complaint about your adblocker? This can happen to anyone. Some websites depend on ads to make money and will require you to purchase a membership or disable the adblocker. When these situations occur, you’ll need to disable your ad blocker.

Follow along to learn how to disable your ad-blocker and support your favorite sites.

How to Disable Ad Blocker on a PC or Mac

Given the similarity in web browsers available on Windows and Mac, we’ll combine the instructions for simplicity’s sake.

How to Disable Ad Blocker on Chrome

Google Chrome has a rather rudimentary built-in ad blocker that blocks ads on sites that it considers to be too spammy. If a site has too many ads or walls that prevent you from seeing the content, Chrome may block those. It can also block ads with auto-playing audio.

However, the Chrome ad blocker may sometimes prevent you from opening sites that you really want to see. We’ll now show how to disable it for all websites. Of course, you can enable the ad blocker again whenever you want.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click on More at the top right corner.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Now, click on Privacy and security.
  5. Then, select Site Settings.
  6. Then, under Additional content settings, click on Ads.
  7. Click on the Blocked on sites that show intrusive or misleading ads.

If you want to reverse this, just follow the above to the end and turn on Blocked on sites that tend to show intrusive ads.

You can also disable the ad blocker just for specific websites. This may be more convenient if you know the sites in advance. You can still keep the ad blocker on for all other sites. Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Go to the website on which you want to disable the adblocker.
  3. Click on the Lock sign in the address bar.
  4. Open Site settings.
  5. Click on Ads.
  6. Turn on the Always allow on this site feature.
  7. Refresh the page, and you should no longer be blocking ads.

How to Disable Ad Blocker on Firefox

Firefox offers a high level of safety and protection to its users. This is great, but it may sometimes prevent you from opening some websites if it mistakenly considers that they contain malware. If you’ve installed Ad Block on Firefox, here’s how to turn it off:

  1. Launch Firefox.
  2. Click on the Firefox button.
  3. When the menu opens, click on Add-ons.
  4. The Add-ons Manager will now open, but it can take a few seconds.
  5. From here, click on Extensions.
  6. Select your ad-blocker, AdBlocker Ultimate in this example, and click on Disable.

There you have it! You’ve turned off Ad Block, but the extension is still there. You can turn it on whenever you need it again. On the other hand, if you click on Remove instead of Disable, you’d delete the Ad Block extension from your browser.

Of course, you can also disable Ad Block just for specific sites. Here’s how to do so:

  1. Launch Firefox.
  2. Navigate to the website where you want to allow ads.
  3. Click on the Ad Block icon in the address bar.
  4. Click on Enabled on this site.
  5. When you click on it, it should automatically turn into Disabled on this site.

That’s it! Just reload the page, and the ads should appear. If you have a different version of the ad blocker, you might need to click on Don’t run on pages on this domain. This action disables Ad Block for the whole domain (the site and all its pages).

How to Disable Ad Blockers on an iPhone

If you have to disable adblockers on your iPhone for any reason, do this:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap on Safari.
  3. Open the General section.
  4. Toggle Block Pop-ups off.

That’s it! Again, you can change your mind whenever you want. Just go to the Safari settings and reverse the action.

How to Disable Ad Blockers on an Android

Most Android users use the Chrome browser, which offers decent protection from potentially threatening websites. But what if the protection makes your system slower and doesn’t allow you to open a certain website? You can disable adblockers:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner.
  3. Go to Chrome Settings.
  4. Then, tap on Advanced.
  5. Tap on Site settings.
  6. Scroll until you see Pop-ups and redirects, and Ads.
  7. Tap on both of them.

That’s it! It’s essential to turn on both Pop-Ups and Ads. Selecting only Ads isn’t enough to disable blockers. If you ever want to turn ad blockers on again, all you have to do is open the settings and tap on Pop-Ups and Ads one more time to disable them.

On the other hand, you could also turn off ad blockers for particular sites only. Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Go to the website on which you want to allow ads.
  3. When the website loads, tap on the three dots at the top right corner.
  4. Select Site Settings.
  5. Scroll until you see Ads and tap on it.
  6. Tap on Allow.

There you have it! Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to disable adblockers for all trusted websites at once. You’ll need to open each website and repeat this action.

Note: You won’t be able to turn off the ad blocker if you’re in Lite mode. Lite mode is an excellent feature that makes websites load faster and smoother, but it also automatically disables certain ads. Therefore, you may need to turn off Lite mode before you can do anything about ads.

There’s Always a Catch

Ad blockers are pretty standard nowadays. Besides blocking ads and banners, your ad blocker may protect your system. It may prevent malware and keep your device running smoothly.

However, there’s always a catch. If a site requires you to disable Ad Block, there’s always an option to do so. As you can see, you can either disable Ad Block for all websites or only particular sites. You may find the second option to make more sense to you.

What do you think? Did you manage to disable your adblocker?
