One of the biggest perks of owning an iPad is connecting it to your Roku media player. You can sit back and relax as you watch videos and pictures on the big screen from your iPad. Or improve your work presentations by quickly connecting your mobile device to Roku, confidently bringing attention to important content.
While it’s not possible to mirror the entire display to Roku, you can still mirror images, video, and music files saved on the tablet. This means that you won’t see video games and apps like Twitch. However, connecting the two devices offers a unique way to experience your content.
Keep on reading to learn how to mirror your iPad to Roku so that you make the most of your media files.
How to Mirror an iPad with the Roku App
Mirroring different types of content is a pretty straightforward process once you’ve made a few adjustments and prepared your Roku device.
How to Set Up Your Roku to Mirror an iPad
You’ll first have to download the Roku Remote Control app onto your tablet. You can find it in the Apple Store and install it.
Since this app isn’t fully compatible with iPad devices, you’ll have to adjust the settings so that it can run full-screen. To enlarge the display, press the arrow icon in the lower part of the screen.
Next, you’ll need to ensure that your Roku player settings will allow you to mirror your iPad. Here’s how to do it:
- Use the Roku Remote Control and choose Settings in the toolbar at the left part of your Roku screen.
- Next, find the System tab and click Screen mirroring.
- When you enter Screen Mirroring mode, you’ll have two options. You can select either Prompt or Always allow. If you go with Prompt, your Roku will always ask for permission when you try to mirror a tablet.
Once you’ve enabled screen mirroring on the Roku media player, you can move on to mirror your iPad.
How to Mirror an iPad with the Roku App
Your tablet and Roku need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network, so check their connection settings to make sure that’s the case.
- Launch the Roku Remote Control app on your tablet.
- Select the Media section at the bottom of your screen to enable images, videos, and music transfers from your tablet to your Roku player.
- If you’ve selected Prompt in the Screen Mirroring mode, the app will now ask you to connect to your Roku device.
- Pick the type of content you want to transfer to your Roku. Go through your pictures, music, and videos until you find the content you want.
- Once you click an image or a video, your Roku will show it on the TV screen. When you enter an image folder, click the Play icon, and all the pictures stored there will appear in a slideshow.
Swipe with your finger or use the control buttons underneath the images to go back and forth through the slideshow.

What to Adjust Before Connecting AirPlay to Your Roku Device
If you’re using a Roku Streambar or Roku TV, they’ll get disconnected from your Wi-Fi network once you turn them off. To prevent this, you’ll need to enable a feature to maintain a stable connection. Activating this feature will strengthen the wireless connection and allow you to link AirPlay to your device.
Here are the steps to enable it:
- Click the Home button on your Roku remote control.
- Next, scroll through the options and press Settings.
- Choose System, then pick Power.
- Select Fast TV start on your TV or go with Fast start on the Streambar.
These settings should now allow you to send pictures, videos, and music from your tablet to the Roku device using AirPlay.
How to Mirror Your iPad to Roku With AirPlay

What to Do if Your Roku Device Isn’t Showing Up in the AirPlay Menu
